Surrounded by horses from a young age Liam grew up on the family farm - Abbeyview. Owned by the Killen's for nearly 150 years, set deep in the heart of the horsey County Down countryside. Abbeyview Equine is one of a number of companies bearing the homestead's name.
Liam cut his teeth on the hunting field and represented Lecale Riding Club, East Down Pony club and his school in a variety of disciplines. Tetrathlon and Eventing providing the required thrill and challenge.
One of the highlights of Liam's riding career to date was riding for American Olympic show jumping team member Mclain Ward in 2005.
In 2006 he was accepted onto the Washington Ireland Programme (WIP) and interned with Habitat for Humanity in their DC communications department. He was on the WIP Public Relations team and contributed to the production of various Irish/American charity fund raising and informative events.
Liam graduated top of his class from C.A.F.R.E. Enniskillen Campus, with an honours degree in Equine Management in June 2007. Throughout his time at college he was a member of the Student Recreation Committee, and in his final year was voted president.
Liam took charge of the public relations and advertising for all events. As a result of his appointment he was awarded student who contributed the most to the college at graduation.
He has gained marketing and business knowledge from his career post graduation with Price Waterhouse Cooper, Belfast City Council, and Manpower Recruitment Ltd.
After searching for the elusive equine graduate role, he decided to create his own!
As for his horses - even though he's currently based in Manchester - he and his brother are breeding sport horses from the family farm in County Down - Abbeyview - along-side their father's thoroughbred mares.
